If you are a Victoria Police Applicant, you’ll know that one of the steps in the application process is to go to the Police Academy and sit the Victoria Police Fitness Test for Applicants.

The testing day is made up of seven individual tests. In fact, there are only 6 for our PSO Applicants, as they are not required to do the swimming component, but, of the seven components, the one aspect that causes more applicants to fail than any other is the Illinois Agility Test.

It might look quite simple when you are watching it on video but in fact, it takes a little bit of time and effort to work out how to actually perform the test the right way and to use the right techniques to make sure that you can complete the Illinois Agility Test in the 20 second time limit that is allowed for applicants.

We can break the Illinois Agility Test into five or six specific parts which can be worked on to improve your efficiency which in turn could reduce your time by 2 or 3 seconds.

When we look at those individual aspects, one of the most important ones is the starting technique. The first 2 or 3 seconds of the test is very important and if we can get off to the right start using the correct technique we are well on our way to completing the test within the required time.

Now, I want to share a video with you that we haven’t shared with people who are not members until now, so if you are having some trouble with the Illinois Agility Test, have a look at the video that goes into a lot of details about what I believe is the best technique to use for getting started in the Illinois Agility Test.
